Course Outline
Through discussion, examples, and hands-on practice, participants explore how to:
- Follow email etiquette. Avoid the 10 most common email mistakes.
- Ensure the focus and clarity of each message. Provide the appropriate level of detail.
- Begin and end email effectively. Engage and keep the reader’s attention; ensure that the reader understands next steps.
- Place information for greatest impact. Organize email logically.
- Improve tone and build rapport. Ensure wording is inclusive and bias-free. Translate specialized language for non-technical readers.
- Ensure professional format. Answer common questions about email presentation, for example, “How informal should I be—for example, can I use contractions?” and “Should I use headings and lists in email?”
