Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist in SQL 2005
(MCTS: SQL 2005)

Microsoft Certified Technology Specialists in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 (MCTS: SQL Server 2005) implement and maintain databases using specific instructions and specifications. They have thorough knowledge of the product, understand how to use the tools and Transact-SQL language, and know how to explore the user interface. Technology Specialists typically pursue careers as database administrators, database developers, or business intelligence developers. They may also be developers and systems administrators who do not work with SQL Server daily but who want to show their breadth of technology experience.

To achieve the MCTS: SQL Server 2005 credential, candidates are required to pass 1 exam that focuses on the implementation and maintenance of SQL Server 2005. The table below illustrates the Springhouse recommended program to complete this certification.

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Developer

Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Database Developer (MCITP: Database Developer) is the premier certification for database designers and developers. This credential demonstrates that you can design a secure, stable, enterprise database solution by using Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

Database developers design and implement relational database models (logical and physical) and database storage objects. They also program servers by using user-defined functions, triggers, stored procedures, Transact-SQL, or the CLR. They retrieve or modify data using SQL queries or tune and optimize queries. Database developers are typically employed by mid-sized to large-sized organizations.

Candidates pursuing the MCITP credential must first complete the MCTS for SQL Server 2005 by passing exam 70-431. See able above for complete details. After achieving this credential, individuals can pursue the MCITP credential by passing two additional exams. The table below illustrates the Springhouse recommended program to complete this certification.
